Sometimes the miracle is as simple as a perspective change
— Tammy Maltby

Dear Precious Partner,

We are heading to Kenya in just a few weeks! What a dream come true that I get to take my daughter, Camryn (16) with me this time! Heather, Jordan and Tara will also be joining us and we know God has a wonderful adventure ahead for all of us. One of my favorite quotes from Tammy Maltby is “Sometimes the miracle is as simple as a perspective change”. If nothing else, I know God will work miracles in our lives through perspective changes. But, I also know God has already set up divine appointments for us like he has on previous trips-opportunities to bring light into darkness, to give hope to the hopeless and to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our brothers and sisters across the globe. It’s going to be incredible.

If you aren’t already my friend on Facebook, be sure to friend me. That’s where I’ll likely put most of my updates from our trip and share photos. Camryn Horst, Jordan Hedley and Heather Duncan will also be posting updates so friend us all!

If you want to be a part of the divine appointments that God has in store for us (but we aren’t aware of yet), please make your donation online at www.giveamore.org ASAP! All these general funds will go to projects and opportunities while we are there. We are also “wrapping up” our blanket donations. We need about $500 to ensure that every one of the children in our program receive a mattress AND a blanket!

We thank you so much for all your support. We aren’t Give Amore-YOU ARE! You all make everything happen through your generous giving and prayer support. We can’t wait to be your messengers of hope to Kenya!

God bless,

Christa Horst and the Give Amore Team

Kenya Trip 2018

Christa and Heather are headed back to Kenya together again but this time, tagging along are Camryn, Tara and Jordan.

It will be the fourth trip for Christa, second for Heather and the first for Tara and the teenagers to Africa and most precisely Kenya.

They are expected to arrive in Kenya on 6/18 and as it is engraved in their hearts, they will be sharing God’s love with everyone in their itinerary and most importantly, vulnerable women and children.

Last fall, your contributions enabled them:

·     Enabled them to secure much needed treatment/surgery for the then ailing Faith.

·     Purchased a customized Shadrack who is paraplegic.

·     Fixed the dilapidated roof of our resource center, though temporarily.

·     Bought another motorbike for the team to help facilitate transport.

·     Blessing of our then 9thwell where people were fed and fellowshipped together.

·     Purchased formula and other supplies for orphaned children and so much more.

This time they are motivated to do even so much more!

You can be part of this mission or as well keep tabs with their itinerary via FacebookInstagramand/or our website

13th Well of Wellness!

IMG_2126.JPG

Right after the completion of our 12th well, our next well is a week into its sinking. This well brings our total wells to thirteen and it’s being sunk in Emanuel Olunga’s in Ituti, a very remote place of western Kenya.

This community contains hundreds of families in need of clean safe water which only a well provides. The new borehole will come in handy especially during this rainy season which leaves a huge fraction of the community dependent on unsafe rain water for daily consumption.

On its hopeful completion the well will be blessed and graced by Christa and the rest of the team on their upcoming visit in the month of June.

Our wells are sunk by hand and materials fitted by an experienced professional.

For only $2500 you can bless families for a lifetime. For information on this and more, visit  and make a difference you will be proud of.

Christa's Corner-We are going to Kenya and we need your help!

Dear Partner,

It’s hard each month to summarize the lives that are being transformed and/or the challenges we face with just a few highlighted articles that our speed reading American brains can process. I’ll try to be brief for my update.

WE NEED FUNDS! We are taking 5 of us to Kenya 6/16-6/30. When we are there, we always have projects/opportunities that we could not plan or prepare for come up. God brings us so many amazing opportunities and while we can’t help or participate in all of them, He makes it obvious which ones we are to support.

Because you Give Amore, last year, with the funds we raised prior to our trip we were able to do the following:

- Faith was found on the steps of the church in agony and dying. We were able to get her to the doctor immediately (thanks to the funds we’d raised prior to our trip). She then went on to have a life-saving surgery and is healthy.

-We purchased a much-needed specialized wheel chair for one of the guardians in our program’s special needs son. Shadirack has severe cerebral palsy and is 14 years old. It’s very challenging for Christian, his mom, to carry him everywhere. This wheelchair helps him go outside and get fresh air and change positions.

-We were able to fix our dilapidated roof to protect our offices and equipment from rain damage

-We were able to send 3 of our graduates to continued education programs

-We purchased formula and diapers for orphaned babies

-We had nurses brought it to educate our teen and pre-teen girls about sex, rape and pregnancy

-We had nurses brought it to teach the community CPR and Heimlich to save lives!

-We purchased chickens for a group of hard-working single mothers who have started their own co-op and are building a profitable business to support each other!

-We had a blessing at the site of our latest well and provided rare poultry and chapatti for the community to eat. There’s no “free food” in Kenya! This is surely a treat!

-AND SOOOO MUCH MORE!

Please join us so that we can be the hands and feet of Jesus when we are in Kenya and help those that we haven’t even met yet!

Donate online at www.giveamore.org. Your donation, of any amount, will bless many!

Remember, God blesses you in order that you may be a blessing to others.

Evangelist Jackson Nerrickson (Give Amore Team) visits one of our children, Jack's lifelong dream is to complete his seminary degree, but lacks the finances to finish it. This article is a beautiful example of how God uses him to help others understand the gospel.

Mark 16:1-6

On the way they were asking each other, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?” 4 But as they arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled aside. 5 When they entered the tomb, they saw a young man clothed in a white robe sitting on the right side. The women were shocked, 6 but the angel said, “Don’t be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Look, this is where they laid his body”

Jesus was crucified on a Friday. He gave up His ghost about 3pm. It took Joseph of Arimathea a lot of trouble with the Jewish leaders before Pilate for the body of Jesus to be released to him. The Sabbath in Israel begins at 6pm on Friday to the end of Saturday, so Jesus was quickly put in the grave for lack of adequate time for a proper funeral.

Now its Sunday, the sun has just come up. Three women are walking to the tomb of Jesus, so that they could anoint his body. Things had happened so fast when he was crucified and buried. They were not able to properly prepare his body for burial. After his burial, the Jewish women rested on their Sabbath, and now, on Sunday morning, came to finish taking care of his body. But they have forgotten something. How will they gain access to the tomb? The have forgotten that the tomb is sealed with a massive stone. ... They were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, `Who will roll away the stone from the entrance of the tomb? (Mark 16:2-3).

That question gathers up the sorrowful enquiry of the whole universe. They seem to have put into language the great sigh of universal manhood, “who shall roll away the stone?” in man’s path of happiness lies a huge rock with completely blocks up the road. Who among the mighty shall remove the barrier? Men, generation after generation, buried their fellows—the all-devouring sepulcher swallowed its myriads. Who could stop the daily slaughter, or give a hope beyond the grave?

To those women there were difficulties. The stone itself was very huge and it was watched by guards day and night. And mankind faced the same difficulties. Death was a huge stone not to be moved by any power known to mortals. That death was evidently sent of God as a penalty for offenses against His law. How could it, therefore, be averted, how could it be removed? God vengeance was set upon that sepulcher’s mouth. How could that seal be broken? Who could roll the huge stone away?

Moreover, demon forces and powers of Hell were watching the sepulcher to prevent escape—who could encounter these and bear departed souls like a prey from between the lion's teeth? It was a dreary question, "Who shall roll away the stone from the sepulcher?" "Can these dry bones live? Shall our departed ones be restored to us? Can the multitudes of our race who have gone down to Hades ever return from the land of midnight and confusion?" No answer was given to sages and kings, but the holy women who loved the Savior found an answer! They came to the tomb of Christ, but it was empty, for Jesus had risen. And this is the answer to the world's enquiry. That there is another life.  Bodies will live again, for Jesus lives! Be comforted, Refrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work shall be rewarded. No more Sorrows, to those of you who mourn around the grave, as those that are without hope for since Jesus Christ is risen, the dead in Christ shall rise also. Wipe away those tears, for the Believer's grave is no longer the place for lamentations, it is but the passage to immortality! It is but the dressing room in which the spirit shall put aside, for a while, her travel-worn garments of her earthly journey to put them on again on a brighter morrow, when they shall be fair and white as no fuller on earth could make them!

The holy women’s greatest fear was the huge stone. “Who shall roll the stone a way?” We are faced with this question in our daily lives. I can hear many of us asking the same question. Who shall heal me of this terrible disease? Can my sins be forgiven? The fear of the future uncertainty haunts mankind every day. To the faint-hearted, take courage and fear not. Our Lord Jesus Christ conquered death. He is a live. What is your fear? The angel of the lord tells you, “Fear not,” Every wound of the risen savior and every act of your reigning Lord consoles you. Jesus is able to help you in all your temptations. He lives to make intercession for you. He is able to save you to the uttermost. Fear not.

If this is truly the language of our hearts, we may take courage. "Fear not: for I know that you seek Jesus, who was crucified." Then he adds, "He is not here: for He is risen.  Our great ground and reason for consolation is that we do not seek a dead Christ and we do not pray to a buried Savior. He is really alive. Today He is as able to relieve you, if you go to your closet and pray to Him. He is as willing today to accept and bless you as He was to bless the leper, the blind man or to heal the paralytic. Go to Him, then, at once and present your requests to Him for He cares for you.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ gives us greater hope. That there is life beyond the grave. Death, the greatest enemy to mankind has been defeated. That we can go through this life with our heads raised up knowing that because he overcame, we will overcome. No matter how huge the stone you are facing. The lord will roll it a way. God to Him with holy confidence. For He is not in the tome. HE would be dead if HE were. He is risen. Living and reigning to answer your requests.

12th Well is Ready

12th well.JPG

Give Amore’s 12th well project is complete, and the community is excited to draw from it. Despite challenges that delayed its timely completion, the sinking process went on smoothly and the yield is left for the community to enjoy.

Our wells are dug by hand, a process that involves a digger to sink with the excavation until the water table is hit. Therefore, when the rains came, our courageous workers took precautionary measures beforehand to avert any tragedies tagged to the heavy rains from impacting the project negatively. They took days off until they were certain there were no collapse indicators to the well.

The well is in Daisy’s village, a very remote location which holds a dense population of families that will greatly benefit from its water.

To date, our wells have a positive sustainability record, with our oldest well turning five years old and still going strong in serving the community it was commissioned to care for.

Our 13th well should be started soon! Follow our updates on social media or visit our website to rejoice with us over the great successes God is streaming our way in our activities in Kenya. Give love! Give hope! Give Amore!

Home Visits of our Children

Asman shows us his portion of their home. This is nearly all of his belongings as well.

Asman shows us his portion of their home. This is nearly all of his belongings as well.

In Kenya, heavy rains are a trigger to cold nights, wet mornings and diseases. Therefore, our team made the first phase of home visits immediately after the onset of the rainy season to the homes of a section of our sponsored children.

The children visited were in perfect health and in their own way, productive around their homes. They were either doing household chores, looking after livestock or carrying out other farm tasks. However, the most dominant heartbreaking scenario was how they spend their cold nights on rugged mats and with very little to cover themselves.

Behind their gallant smiles, the need for mattresses and blankets was glaring, especially now that the rains have been projected to last for months across the country. With the rains comes various diseases thus, the urgent remedy for most of them is a warm bedding.

We are going back to Kenya in June!

I am so excited to be joining Christa again this summer on my 2nd trip to Kenya with Give Amore.  We are thrilled that 3 other people will be joining us including Tara Vafadari from El Paso, Texas, Christa’s daughter, Camryn, and Camryn’s best friend Jordan.  These beautiful ladies have such a heart for the Lord, immeasurable energy and are ready to serve.  I can’t wait to share with you how the Lord has used them for his Kingdom when we return.

Our trip is scheduled for JUNE 16-30, 2018 and will cost approximately $3000-$3500.  We will visit the Give Amore community in Kenya, love on Cornerstone School children, help with the monthly food and supply distribution for the orphan sponsorship program, shop for fabrics for our sewing program in open-air markets, visit an elephant sanctuary and more.   If you would like more information about joining us on this trip, please contact heather@giveamore.org

I am still in awe that I get a front row seat to what God is doing in Kenya through Give Amore.  Thank you, dear partner, for following us on this journey.  It is incredible.

Meet Paloma!

Paloma.JPG

Months and years of prayers have finally paid off for little Paloma after Give Amore finally integrated her in its sponsored children’s program. Her sponsorship officially begins in April and with this much needed help, she is assured to stay in school and grow up feeling loved.

Paloma, 6, has had it tough since her mother died during delivery and thereby forcing her to be moved under her grandmother’s care, a place she has since stayed until we met her. Through the six years, the family lived on meagre profits they reaped from sale of illicit liquor which her grandmother desperately brewed.

With her new-found sponsorship comes a package of full school fees payment, food, clothing, toiletries among other gifts she will be blessed with.

When we recently met her, playful little Paloma confidently exchanged greetings with us least conscious of the good news we had for her a sign she is destined for great things. She now joins the growing family of Give Amore and our prayer is that her life changes for the better under our care.

The Eleventh Well of Wellness

11th well.JPG

Another village is brimming with joy after receiving a clean safe water well sponsored by Give Amore. Men and especially women and children thronged the well on its inauguration day to have a drink from a source that is deemed to serve them for a long time to come.

This is our eleventh village to be blessed with a well and with the increased need of clean safe water for drinking and home consumption, this well is an ultimate remedy.

The well is situated in Gladys’ village, two miles from our 9th well at Frida’s village.

On the other note, our 12th well is fully funded and the caretaker beneficiary home soon to be identified. This new baby will keep growing our family of wells as well as the numerous families we have already blessed and so many more to come.

The essential objective of our well projects is to help eradicate waterborne diseases, water-related infections, water-based- illnesses and water-washed- ailments through provision of lasting clean safe water free of pathogens among other contaminants. For more information on this and more visit our website.

More Love from Kenya

Tote bags story.JPG

Also tagged on our array of successes are our Made with Amore tote bags currently on transit for the US. They are set to arrive in a few weeks to come.

The bags are made with love by our tailoring students who learn the embroidery art freely under our sponsorship in an initiative to create a self-reliant society that can fend for itself in the long run.

Aside from providing you with the feel of African art and embrace, they also give you a chance to change a life for the better in the community via every purchase you make. Each bag goes for $25 and the proceeds contribute in training and equipping students in our tailoring program with sewing machines upon graduation.

A New Life for Josephine!

Within days of hearing of Joesphine's plight, Give Amore supporters covered her school fees, uniform, supplies, clothing, food and much more! She was in a new school within a week!

Within days of hearing of Joesphine's plight, Give Amore supporters covered her school fees, uniform, supplies, clothing, food and much more! She was in a new school within a week!

Josephine Nafula is in school at last courtesy of the help extended by our wonderful donors after Give Amore ran her plight among our urgent needs two weeks ago.

Having been out of school for months, Josephine, 16, walked through the gates of a local high school with disbelief into a 9th grade classroom armed with books and stationery among other essential effects ready to learn, thus commencing her second phase of education.

This beautiful teenager has faced the hardest of blows life could throw at her such as rape, physical and emotional abuse, depression, neglect, homelessness among others all her life after the demise of her parents when she was a toddler.

Fortunately, enough she is now safe and loved under the confinement of Judith and Polycarp who take up as her new God sent guardians, nay parents. The now family of five is excited to accommodate her and so far they are so happy God sent Josephine their way.

She is now officially in our sponsored children program.

A Cow for Asman

Asman, a complete orphan, is so happy to show off his new cow! This cow was purchased by Sunset Canyon Preschool families in Austin, TX for Christmas!

Asman, a complete orphan, is so happy to show off his new cow! This cow was purchased by Sunset Canyon Preschool families in Austin, TX for Christmas!

Milk, butter, and ghee come into mind at the mention of a cow, and now Asman and his family will have the privilege of enjoying these as well as growing a herd from their new cow gift.

The family of eight received the cow donated by Give Amore, courtesy of a preschool children in the U.S with great joy. The gift came at a time they least expected and being the only animal the family has ever owned; they were moved by it.

Residing in a large milk consuming community, the cow suffices as a long-term economic boost to the struggling family right from its milk to later meat and other products as the herd grows from the single cow.

Apart from school sponsorships, Give Amore seeks to equip the community with lasting economic and social deliverables for self-reliance and continued community empowerment and such venture is one of them.

Monthly Roundup

Give Amore students and workers are busy building and creating!

Give Amore students and workers are busy building and creating!

Give Amore’s 11th well is on course and judging from its sinking pace, it should be completed in the next fourteen days.

So far there aren’t any complication pelting the process and the diggers exude great confidence of hitting the water table soon enough.

Concurrently, Made with Amore tote bags are in progress and should be ready for shipping soon. The bags purely made from carefully handpicked African fabrics are hand made by our community tailoring students.

The team mainly comprised of women and girls has mastered the art of making your favorite bags from their predecessors who graduated in the fall of 2017 and are expected to use the art among more skills they have garnered to positively impact and empower the communities they emanate from.

Flowing Into the New Year

well.png

Five days into the New Year, amidst all the celebrations and toasting to 2018, a community in a remote village in Ebulechia, Kakamega in Western Kenya was receiving a clean safe water well, one of the very few in the village.

The well, funded and donated by Give Amore, is situated at Brenda’s home and yards from her is Shalline's family and both are the direct caretaker beneficiaries from the project.

Blessed by a junction of three main village foot paths crisscrossing not far from it, the well is strategically placed to effectively serve the community’s population and further extend its cool waters to visitors using the tracks to neighboring villages.

The well brings our total number of boreholes dug to 10 and a commission for more wells in 2018.

Currently thousands of people in communities in western Kenya are enjoying clean safe water from wells donated by Give Amore across the region and as a result more time has been saved, many lives protected from disease causing pathogens and most importantly, many hardworking Kenyan mamas rellived from the heavily tasking duty of fetching tens of gallons of water on their heads from far off distances in the scorching heat.

Clean water is life.

Shadrack's New Ride!

Shadrack.png

Shadrack will be wheeling all the way into 2018 after being blessed by a wheelchair donated by Give Amore, at the beginning of the year.

The 14 year old paraplegic child has never had a convenient way to move around and thus relied totally to being carried and closely monitored not to hurt himself from his unpredictable movements.

A son to a single struggling hardworking mother, Christine, and a cousin to Everline and Grace, Shadrack has seen it all growing up as a paraplegic child. His bones grew stiff by the years and due to his poverty stricken background, nothing could be done to secure him physical therapy services. However, despite all his pains, struggles and untold feelings, the love he gets each day and minute from his wonderful family has kept him stronger and smiling all the way and gladly, he is conscious of this.

Therefore due to his condition, a special chair had to be fitted for him and now a happy Shadrack is loving his new ride. Though he can't speak, his joy is obvious.

A New Motorcycle It Is!

new Motorbike.png

Our Home/ Schools and Transport docket has received a new motorbike in a move to ease transport snags of the team in service for the community.

This new acquisition brings the number of motorcycles in use to two after the team grew to seven members. Therefore, this will not only cushion transport difficulties, but also cut on avoidable transport costs accrued from other auxiliary means.

Bikes form a wider network of transportation in rural Kenya and since most of our sponsored children live in very remote areas featured with poor seasonal roads/paths, these machines suffice as reliable and time saving means of transport to access these areas with ease compared to others.

This new baby comes in handy to support your great work through Give Amore!

Christa's Corner- Abundant Joy!

For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be upon his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. -Isaiah 9:6

Dearest Partners,

Words cannot express the joy with which I’m writing this to you. To say we’ve seen a Christmas miracle would be an understatement! I’m beyond blessed to have a front row seat to see God stir in the hearts of others to help people that they will likely never meet and who will likely never be able to pay them back.

What started as a complete, giant leap of faith has turned into God’s unmistakable assurance that He has Give Amore and all of our team, children and guardians in His loving hands. Right before Thanksgiving, I spoke at my parent’s church in El Paso. A man I’ve never met came up to me and said he had a word from God for me and for Give Amore. He went on to tell me that God told him that the river of blessings that has had some dams holding up the flow were being cleared and that God’s blessings would flow in abundance. I wanted to believe him. Who wouldn’t love to hear those things?

Immediately or shortly after this word from God the following happened:

-We received funding for another clean water well!

-50 Made with Amore tote bags were sold that day!

-Children began to get sponsored (let me tell you that this is the biggest area of faith for me as we’ve struggled for the past 3 years with getting and keeping sponsors). All but one child is currently fully funded! Eight children remain on our wait list.

-We were presented an opportunity to pitch for a grant for more clean water wells (please pray for this please!)

-We were given an opportunity to come speak to a business and sell our tote bags (we sold 20 that afternoon!)

-And our Christmas Wish List items was a hit! EVERY child was able to receive something specifically for them picked out by us or by their sponsors-goats, chickens, a bicycle, clothes, toys and even a COW!!!!

-And thanks to a few generous general donations, we were able to make our Kenyan Team’s dreams come true with a new motorbike, helmet and safety vest!

I can't express to you my joy in watching all these donations come in. God’s blessing Give Amore and it is my pure joy and honor to facilitate it and help others. I’m beyond grateful that God has answered so many of our prayers in 2017.

In January, we will provide you with a recap of the year and just some of the tangible ways we’ve been blessed and been able to bless others. We hope you will continue to support us and our mission to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our brothers and sisters across the globe. Our 2017 recap will also include information for our 2018 trip to Kenya! You won’t want to miss it!

As much as I love giving all these gifts to others, I’m reminded that the best gift we’ve all received is the gift of Jesus Christ our King.

May the joy of the season be with you.

Merry Christmas!

Love and Joy at Christmas Time!

Brian was one of many of our children who received a goat for Christmas! While the goats will one day supply meat for the family, for many years, it will provide milk! A goat is really the gift that keeps on giving!

Brian was one of many of our children who received a goat for Christmas! While the goats will one day supply meat for the family, for many years, it will provide milk! A goat is really the gift that keeps on giving!

Santa made an early stopover for Christmas this year, and amazingly, wishes were granted.

As it can be recalled, our Christmas wish list went out a little late but through God’s blessings, it earned great favor from you, our amazing donor, and now each home will have a feel of the beauty, love and joy that comes with Christ’s birth.

Ranging from a cow, goats, Chickens, shoes, clothes, etc. our excited sponsored children and their guardians took home a share of Santa’s pie as each bagged gifts that define their core needs and wishes.

Unlike preceding Christmases, this year our focus was on individual needs and wishes, and from the sparks of joy and satisfaction in their glittery faces, we delivered just that.

It is a season furnished with gifts of all kinds and from our pool of love and cheerful givers, together, we delivered a Christmas bigger and breathtaking than ever before.

Straight from our hearts, Give Amore Team wishes you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New-year!
