Valentine and brother Moses W are both under the care of Francis Ashioya, who is their maternal grandmother and doubles up as their sole guardian.

The two were born out of wedlock, abandoned by their mother for another marriage, and their father is unknown.

Their grandmother does menial jobs for people and sometimes relies on begging for supply to feed her six grandchildren.

Moses is twelve years old while Valentine is ten. They are currently out of school.
