Gizel and Khalid receive additional food supplies, new masks and a home visit as Give Amore rises to the challenge of protecting the most vulnerable during the pandemic.
None of us saw this coming and we definitely were not expecting it to last as long as it is (and sadly recognizing that this virus is here for a while). I think the word that best describes my emotions at all that’s unfolded is shock. Shock that this could even happen and then shock that we can’t seem to get rid of it. As we’ve seen the explosion of cases in America and the rise in deaths and hospitalizations here in a country with amazing resources, I can’t help but be very concerned for the people around the world who lack basic necessities on a good day, let alone during a world pandemic.
All this has done is increase our sense of urgency that we need to do what we can to help our brothers and sisters across the globe. The Kenyan government recently announced that schools will be closed for the remainder of the year. All children will be repeating their grades come January. However, our children used to receive food provisions at school (our sponsorship program paid for this) and now they are home more, with guardians who are out of work. The needs are greater than ever for food, for clean water and for basic medical care, yet our sponsorships are falling behind.
Would you consider donating to our general fund so we can continue to provide additional food supplies to our children and their families? Or consider sponsoring a child? We have 4 children whose accounts are now behind. $50 per month per child will keep them in school when schools reopen, provide monthly food and basic medical care. General donations are used when medical needs go above and beyond (see story below) as well as help us offset the difference between what our program typically includes and what we are providing now during COVID.
We trust that God will stir in the hearts of others to meet our needs but we are aware that we can’t receive if we don’t ask! Please make your tax-deductible donations at www.giveamore.org and be a part of being the hands and feet of Jesus to one of the most vulnerable populations in the world.
Thank you all for your support. We appreciate you and can’t wait to be on the back side of this pandemic looking back at all the ways God showed up among his people.
